Marvel Select figures are hit and miss for me, and I've probably picked up fewer than half of what's been produced, but the Captain America movie figures are a definite hit. In this case, visual design credit obviously goes to the movie team. This instantly became my favorite version of the Red Skull, a character which, growing up, I was fairly indifferent toward. The figure is solid and moves smoothly in most cases, although the trenchcoat does restrict movement of the legs and his standing poses are limited. *But he does stand on his own, and for me that's always the most important standard for an out-of-package figure. Given that the costume is nearly all black, Diamond Select designers did a good job of distinguishing areas with a contrast of gloss and satin finishes. The head could have been painted a little better, but I've seen some variation between figures, so I think this is probably an issue with consistency at the factory and not the figure's design. If you're a customizer or someone comfortable with acrylics, another wash of black paint could probably correct any deficiencies according to personal taste. And, lastly, the assembled base (complete only when combined with the pieces accompanying the Captain America figure) is a nice touch, and something that will probably allow these figures to stand apart from anything Hasbro may release after the fact. Both figures are great additions to my collection and, personally, I finally see the appeal of the Red Skull.I've had this figure for a while, but I'll review it now. This is a nice action figure of Red Skull from Captain America: The First Avenger. The painting and sculpting are very well done. He's in his all-black trenchcoat suit which is painted nicely. He stands at about 7.25 inches tall.Accessories: a mauser pistol, and two pieces of the base that connect with the Captain America figure's which forms the plane platform with the machine that holds the tesseract. This makes a nice way to display your figures.Articulation: ball-jointed head; ball-hinge at shoulders, elbows, and hips; rotation at wrists, waist, and upper thighs; double-hinge knees; ankles hinge and roll side-to-side. The coat unfortunately makes it hard to pose his legs.Overall a very nice looking action figure. If you're a fan of Red Skull or the movie, I'd recommend this. Looks great with my other Marvel Select figures.Faithful to the film version. It's not meant to be a toy so the restricted knee and hip articulation caused by the coat is not a significant negative.Very disappointed and I hope to get my money back. I ordered this thinking I would get Red Skull for my son Christmas gift, instead I get a Captain America. Not only that but the packaging was all ruined as well like it was old. Not sure why there would be a picture of Red Skull if that's not what is being sold. Very sad I couldn't surprise my son and I got it 2 days before Christmas so I couldn't look anywhere else for another one.If only Marvel Select would make more articulated figures, i'd be a happy man! Even if the scale is a bit off from the Marvel Legends line, it still looks good in the mix.One of the greatest action figures on my shelf.Well painted and detailed. Mine had three white spots on a back, but very easy to paint with warhammer chaos black. If you own the figure of Captain, Red Skull is "must have", together they're looking awesome with a Tesseract in the backgroung.Very well made...nice for collectors.Great features very life like
